The Niigata Koi have arrived and are doing well. All of them are eating aggressively and are currently being quarantined. We quarantined our koi as a precaution to insure that the koi that we have purchased are healthy. All the koi that we purchased are from breeders that have been certified KHV free. Koi herpesvirus (KHV) is a highly contagious viral disease that may cause significant morbidity and mortality in common carp (Cyprinus carpio) (Hedrick et al. 2000; OATA 2001).

Igarashi (kosaku)
On our first day in Niigata we visited Kosaku to look at his showa and shiro utsuri. Here are some of the koi we purchased.
NEW NEWS
We were given the option to keep these two tansho with Igarashi for another year and take them home as sansai. Although we really wanted to get these koi home to Kaneohe, the option to keep our koi at the Igarashi Farm for a year is an offer we could not refuse. Sorry to anyone who was interested in these koi.
