Yagenji Jumbo Nisai

Yagenji is known for breeding a wide variety of koi. At the same time they are also known for fast growing koi. Take a look at some of the "jumbo" nisai be brought home to Ushijima Nishikigoi.

Marusho 2019

Marusho breeds kohaku from the Dainichi line, kujaku, go Romo and others.  We usually go to this farm first.  Not just because he lives 50 yards away from the house we stay at and he is related but because he has beautiful koi.

Niigata Koi

Here are some pictures of koi that we purchased from Iwashita koi farm.  This farm breeds several different breeds like shusui, goshiki,  and kikokuryu.  

Niigata Buying Trip

We are currently on our annual koi buying trip is Niigata, Japan.  Up in the mountains of Yamakoshi, we stay with our good friends and buy nishikigoi

Breeding Season is Here

Breeding season for Ushijima Nishikigoi is in full swing. We have bred showa and sanke at our Kaneohe farm and a handful of goldfish varieties like ryukin, butterfly, shubunkin and more, in Manoa. Making and feeding brine shrimp isn't the easiest or cheapest method of feeding a fish, however the quality of koi or goldfish can not be matched. Take a look at the pics. More to come.

Koi Show

The Hawaii Goldfish and Carp Association will be holding their show on Saturday and Sunday 4/06 and 4/07. There will be a goldfish and koi competition as well as fish, plants and supplies for sale. Free admission.

8 Month Tosai Update

Tosai seem to grow like weeds. The last update was a little over 2 months ago and Ushijima Nishikigoi decided to admire some of our tosai during a 90% water change. The showa, sanke, and utsuri are really growing fast. The larger showa even made it to the larger pond to not old grow in length but is girth.
