Niigata Koi Shipment Has Arived in Kaneohe

The Niigata Koi have arrived and are doing well. All of them are eating aggressively and are currently being quarantined. We quarantined our koi as a precaution to insure that the koi that we have purchased are healthy. All the koi that we purchased are from breeders that have been certified KHV free. Koi herpesvirus (KHV) is a highly contagious viral disease that may cause significant morbidity and mortality in common carp (Cyprinus carpio) (Hedrick et al. 2000; OATA 2001).

Although we really wanted to get these koi home to Kaneohe, the option to keep our koi at the Igarashi Farm for a year is an offer we could not refuse.
