Nisai Showa Bred by Ushijima Nishikigoi

Here are a few of the nisai showa from the spawn we had two years ago. The color, expecially the sumi are really progressing. The strog black (sumi) is indicative of Sadao's line of showa. Sadao is a famous breeder in Niigata, Japan and owner of Marusada Koi Farm.

 

 

 

2021…We’re Back Open

It has been a tough year for everyone but Ushijima Nishikigoi is back open. We have a lot of varieties of golfish that we bred as well as koi. Please take a look at the pictures and let us know if you are looking for anything specific. Please stay safe and we look forward to hearing from you.

Kohaku Tosai

Last summer Ushijima Nishikigoi did a little experimental breeding with longfin koi.  We had two longfin kohaku and bred them with a Ushijima nishikigoi kohaku (regular fin) male.  The results were almost 100% longfin.  We kept about 50 and have them in our pond in manoa.  Here are some pics of the tosai on March 1, 2020

Marusho Kujaku

Marusho breeds many varieties and one of them is kujaku. We have purchased and bred Shosaku’s line with great results. These kujaku are $250 each.

Yagenji Jumbo Nisai

Yagenji is known for breeding a wide variety of koi. At the same time they are also known for fast growing koi. Take a look at some of the "jumbo" nisai be brought home to Ushijima Nishikigoi.

Marusho 2019

Marusho breeds kohaku from the Dainichi line, kujaku, go Romo and others.  We usually go to this farm first.  Not just because he lives 50 yards away from the house we stay at and he is related but because he has beautiful koi.

Niigata Koi

Here are some pictures of koi that we purchased from Iwashita koi farm.  This farm breeds several different breeds like shusui, goshiki,  and kikokuryu.  

Niigata Buying Trip

We are currently on our annual koi buying trip is Niigata, Japan.  Up in the mountains of Yamakoshi, we stay with our good friends and buy nishikigoi

Breeding Season is Here

Breeding season for Ushijima Nishikigoi is in full swing. We have bred showa and sanke at our Kaneohe farm and a handful of goldfish varieties like ryukin, butterfly, shubunkin and more, in Manoa. Making and feeding brine shrimp isn't the easiest or cheapest method of feeding a fish, however the quality of koi or goldfish can not be matched. Take a look at the pics. More to come.
